BeyondBarre uses a neutral pelvic position. But when doing mat work while lying down, it’s easy for the client to tuck-under, especially when the head is being lifted. Studio mirrors help clients see where they need to correct this alignment, but we still end up spending a lot of time with our hands underneath clients to correct the position. You’ll spend less time making this correction if your clients know how to use their own hands to feel for the proper position. Here’s how to teach them. Tell the client to place their hands under the sacrum. When they do, make sure their fingers are low enough towards the glutes so as not to be crushed by the bone. Now, have them tuck the pelvis under into a posterior tilt, then cue the tailbone to drop into the fingers bringing them into neutral. This gets the clients where they need to be simply by feeling it themselves.]]>
