I Wish I was a Little Bit Taller

When working out it is very easy to only concentrate on the muscles or body parts that are doing the exercise. For instance, when using the weights and doing bicep curls, the legs tend to be forgotten about. This isn’t true for just the legs but the spine as well. You may notice class participants slouching during exercises when either the legs or arms are working separately, or even hanging over the barre while doing the Plié. The easiest and quickest way to get the class to be more alert and energized is to cue them by saying, “grow taller!” This will instantly make everyone stand upright. The abdominal muscles will re-engage and the spine will lengthen, which puts the body back into proper alignment. ]]>
