When jumping in a BeyondBarre class we tend to think about the up action, and not the landing. I talked last month about “spreading the toes like fingers.” Now I want to share another image help you and your client’s to improve your jumping. The phrase is, “Cat like feet.” When coming down form a jump, never think down but rather up! Cat’s land with such ease and grace and you never hear a loud thud sound. I tell my client’s to land with “cat like feet,” and to land rolling through the foot. This action of landing consists of landing toe, ball, heel, and into the plié. This pliable action will help client’s articulate through the feet, land controlled, and get the most work out of the jumps. -Michelle DuVall]]>
